Involvement Network
The Grainger Center hosts many applied learning events throughout each semester. These include guest speakers, site visits and field trips, case competitions, skill-building workshops, and more! The SCC Board of Directors plan these events in order to help supply chain majors make connections with industry professionals, learn about potential career paths, and connect classroom knowledge to real-world business cases. Check the Events page or Blake's SCM Weekly emails for more information about upcoming events. If you have an idea for an applied learning event, please contact any of the members on the board.
Applied Learning Points
Supply Chain Management majors are eligible to begin earning points after meeting with Blake to declare the major. Attending each applied learning event counts as 1 point, and points accumulate each semester until graduation. After meeting with Blake, you'll get an SCM t-shirt!
Also, swag from the Grainger Center is awarded based on the number of points earned. Stop by the Center to collect your sunglasses, cup, hat, beanie, tote bag, mug, or sweatshirt (depending on how many points you've accumulated).
If you have achieved 10 points by the time of graduation, you will be awarded a Supply Chain Management Graduation Cord to wear for commencement.
Point totals for each semester can be found in the on the Points Tracker (you’ll need to login to your Google Wisc account for access to this document). If you have any questions about the points system, please contact Blake Bishop.
Note: Your points carry over for your entire time at UW. Once you redeem a level of swag, your points don’t reset—they keep adding up so you can reach the next level!
Social Events
In addition to applied learning events, the Board of Directors also plans social events. These include trivia nights, cheese curd pub crawls, game nights, study sessions, and more. Please note that attendance points are not given for social events. If you have any ideas for socials, please contact anyone on the board.
Spring Break Trip
An easy and fun way to earn applied learning points is to join the Grainger Center for an unforgettable spring break trip to Europe! Each year the Grainger Center sponsors a trip to either Germany or Norway. Students enroll in MKT 429 (2 credits) to gain an understanding of supply chain from a global perspective. Join us! You won’t regret it.
